Former Bundesliga Striker Joins Backroom Team

Sandro Wagner, the former German international striker, has been appointed as assistant manager for the German national team ahead of Euro 2024, which will be hosted in Germany. Wagner, who played for clubs including Bayern Munich, Werder Bremen, and Tianjin Teda, retired from playing in 2020 and has since worked as a pundit for German television.

Confederations Cup Triumph and Bundesliga Success

Wagner played 8 times for the German national team and was part of the squad that won the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia. He also won two Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich and scored 100 goals in the German top flight.

Wagner will assist head coach Hansi Flick, who was appointed in 2021. The duo worked together at Bayern Munich, where Wagner was part of the coaching staff for the 2019-20 season.
